74HC595 8-Bit Shift Register Breakout Board CJMCU-595  is a breakout for the SOIC version of the 74HC595 shift register IC. Clock in data and latch it to free up IO pins on your micro. All pins from the IC are broken out to standard 0.1″ spaced headers. The Serial in and out pins are on opposite sides of the board with the remaining pins carried over so that multiple shift register boards can be chained together.

74HC595 contains a 8 bit serial input, parallel output shift register, which provides data for a 8 bit D type storage register. 74HC595 storage register with three state outputs. The shift register and the storage register are independent of the clock. 74HC595 shift register with the highest priority direct clearSRCLRSerial input (SER) and serial output for cascading. When the output enableOEWhen the output is high, the output of the 74HC595 will be in a state of high resistance.
Whether the shift register clock (SRCLK) or the memory register clock (RCLK), is the rising edge of the trigger. If the two clocks are bound together, the shift register will always be ahead of the storage register a clock pulse.
